Take Back the Light (TBLT) is Canada’s first and only fluorescent lamp recycling program for industrial, commercial and institutional sectors
Take Back the Light (TBLT) is Canada’s first and only fluorescent lamp recycling program for industrial, commercial and institutional sectors. The program is funded by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and led by the Recycling Council of Ontario. Its goal is to work with both sellers and buyers of fluorescent lamps to recover and recycle the 30 million fluorescent lamps (including mercury containing lamps) that are disposed yearly.
The total number of spent lamps that the Star’s Vaughan Press Centre has recycled and diverted from disposal is tracked on the Toronto Star’s “Lamp-O-Meter” on the TBLT website www.takebackthelight.ca.
The Star and TPG are proud to have taken this leadership step to keep our lamps out of landfills. TBLT Registered Participant Certificate.pdf
